To do otherwise voids the arrangement and you will be subject to the early withdrawal penalty from the beginning of the SEPP. << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

| Hi, I have an IRA that I have initiated substantially equal periodic payments (sepp). Is this the only distributiion I can take from this IRA for the year? For instance, if the sepp is $30,000, can I withdraw $40,000 from the account with $30,000 being the sepp and the $10,000 an extra distribution that I want to use for higher education expenses and avoid the 10% penalty? Or, if the sepp is $30,000, can I withdraw $40,000 from the account with $30,000 being the sepp and the $10,000 converted to a Roth IRA?
