That's probably "part of the ticket". There's also a new form for taxpayers to opt-out of efiling if using one of these mandatory paid preparers that ordinarily would have had to efile their clients return. Gee - I thought this efile thing was supposed to make things simpler? But what do I know, I'm only an amateur. -- ----------------------------- Regards - - Andrew << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2005) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

| A new form for NYS requires you to fill in all the blanks from a Federal W-2, and NOT to send the state copy in with your return. I suppose this is to avoid having them have to do the manual data entry? Each so-called IT-2 form has spaces for about 4 W2 entries; one checks off whether or not the form is for the 'taxpayer' or 'spouse'. Any other state do it like this? A first for NY in t/y 2005. The name of the new NY form is 'IT-2'. More curious than anything else.
