I normally oppose regressive taxes but a higher gas tax makes sense to me. Just one opinion. | I think it is a wonderful idea, only the rebate should be through the DMV, not the income tax. If Anderson's $1/gal tax had been effected, we would be in a much better position now. << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2005) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

| A generic subject perhaps, but this one concerns advocacy of increased gasoline taxes. the New York Times in an editorial has advocated increased federal gasoline taxes in order to keep prices at pre Katrina levels, in order to discourage usage. The effect on poor people would be mitigated by some type of rebate via the federal income tax return. Just what we need!
