If you were doing it by mail you would use the estimated tax> for paying my anticipated tax obligation at the end > of this fiscal year? form 1040-ES http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040es_04.pdf The vouchers are at the end of the worksheets, which you can ignore if you know how much you want to pay. I'm assuming that the online method has an online form. -- Don EA in Upstate NY << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2005) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

Sorta. You have to establish an account at http://eftps.gov> actually be due by next April, but I would like to prepay > that amount at this time. > My questions: > 1 -- Can I make my payment on-line via the IRS web site? and use that. You can't pay via www.irs.gov. For a one-time thing, less hassle to just send in a check. - quote - > 2 -- What tax form do I need to fill out and submit now

| I would like to make a payment to the IRS now, for a tax liability I will owe when I file my personal income tax for 2005 - in April 2006. My payment is for interest received - recently - on a Morgan Stanley investment recently sold after being held for 10 years. I have only an estimate of the possible amount that will actually be due by next April, but I would like to prepay that amount at this time. My questions: 1 -- Can I make my payment on-line via the IRS web site? 2 -- What tax form do I need to fill out and submit now for paying my anticipated tax obligation at the end of this fiscal year? Thank you for any help you can give me.
