| I think I understand the lifetime learning credit, but would like confirmation on the subject. I have a salaried position with a company, My wife has a small home-based business (an LLC). This past year, I took a vocational course last Spring (unrelated to my occupation) and I am considering a small business management course this Fall to assist her business. My understanding is that these would fall under the Credit and I would be able to claim a tuition/fee credit for this year. Is that correct? If so, is it a full deduction or a percentage? My total tuition and fees will equal approx. $2000 for the year and my MAGI is less than $52k. Alternatively, if I decide against the small business course and choose something directly related to my field that is not paid for by my company, can I deduct those tuition/fees under an occupational expense? Thank you, Dave << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2005) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
