TIA, Keith most wash sales - excluding puts, calls, etc - correctly. It is an online product from CCH. See http://www.gainskeeper.com. It also imports from several brokerage houses and exports to several tax programs. I am not associated with CCH other than as a customer. << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2005) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

TIA, Keith Quicken for years and it handles this very well. It is almost a certainty that MS Money, one of Quicken's chief competitor's does just as good a job. You will not find anything simpler or easier to use than these programs. All freely provided advice guarantee correct or double your money back Frank S. | Is there a software program that can be used for tax purposes that will track your stock sales? I need at tax time a report that shows how many shares have been sold (for capital gains) and at what basis cost those shares were bought at. At the same time I need to account for how many of those shares came from a specific buy in the past, so that the next year at tax time I don't "double account" for them when I have sold more. The software would have to deduct for whatever sold shares were accounted for in a given tax year, giving you the remainder left. Stock splits would also have to be accounted for. I am currently using MS Money and have not figured out how to make that program do the deducting thing.
