| I have, in the past, put the amount on line 21 (other income) on form 1040 and just ignore the form W-2. This will not do if the income is from self employment, form 1099misc. If the IRS needs more information, they will get back with you eventually. Meanwhile, you will have your refund (if any). << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2005) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

| Hi all; Just a layperson trying to e-file using Turbo Tax. For various reasons I had to file an extension, and now I've gotten it all wrapped up, or so I thought. Got the notice of rejection of my return due to a 1099 or W2 (and I think there was one more) not matching the IRS's records. It doesn't tell me WHICH one, of course, is the problem, and there were four for my spouse for 2004 so it's a little tricky, but I think I know which one it might be.. because the company in question never even sent him a W2. He was finally able to track them down on the phone to get the info VERBALLY over the phone. They gave him the EIN and the other pertinent info about his wages and such. We figured that would just have to do and would be sufficient to file. Now we're having this problem. This was an extreme part-time, short-term job and he made about $500 total. Is there any way to still e-file and get around this rejection? I really don't want to file the old fashioned way, and we've had so much frustration with this company that we don't want to begin another round of phone calls trying to get to the bottom of the "wrong" EIN problem. Thanks if you can help!
