Does anyone know > what I should be doing? non-resident, with respect to the minimum income. If all you have is interest on a very small bank balance, you would not have enough income to require a return, even if you were still a resident. As long as you are not a Green Card holder in 2005 and have little or no income from US sources, you have no requirement to file a return. Lanny K. Williams, CPA Nawarat, Williams & Co., Ltd. | Hope someone can help me here- I lived in the US for 5 years but returned to the UK 2 years ago. I surrendered my Green Card in Nov 2004 so I had to fill out a 2004 Federal Tax Return. I hoped to avoid filling out a 2005 tax return next year but I still have a US bank account ( there is less than $100 in it). I closed the bank account in May 2005 but I am not sure whether I still have to fill out a 2005 Non-Resident Tax Return. Does anyone know what I should be doing? Thanks for any time given. ..jim. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
