But not a simple tax, just a little less complex (assuming
they repeal the regular).

I just read that the Treasury predicts, if things go
unchanged, the revenue generated by the AMT will exceed the
"regular" tax in 2012. Thereafter, it would be less
expensive for the government to repeal the regular tax.

So, I think the pattern is set: We are making a slow and
orderly conversion to a "flat" tax.

Has anyone done a study of what the rates required
for revenue neutrality would be if the estate tax
"exemption" amount was set at $5,000,000 or $10,000,000
instead of being repealed and the resulting income
increment used to partially offset the cost of AMT repeal?

I've said it before, as many others have, this is a glimpse
of a "flat tax".

Default Tax rates for AMT repeal

The tax rates required for tax neutrality, according to the
Tax Policy Center are available at:

http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/TaxMo...F/T05-0079.pdf

or

http://tinyurl.com/7884t

The top rate would be 44% if all the burden was placed on
the rate brackets above 25%.

Please remember, I am just the messenger.
