NO clue here about the NJ return, but for the federal
return, there is an "override" function available to you,
and that is called "Whiteout" (tm).

You have to send in everything that the program printed. The
sentence you quoted does not mean that only pages 2 and 3
are required.

Default A few questions the return I'm sending in now

I'm getting ready to send in my return, having filed earlier
for an extension (and sent in enough money with the
extension to cover myself). I just printed out my return
using "turbotax for the web", but didn't send it in yet.
Interestingly, there's no way to override my $20 penalty
(fed., underpayment of estimated tax) or to request having
the IRS calculate the penalty and just bill me for it. This
is unlike TaxCut (NOT the web version), which I used last
year, which lets you edit the 1040 (to over-ride things).
I'd prefer having the IRS bill me for the penalty (on the
odd chance that they NEVER WILL.....by the way, what do you
think about those chances, or maybe they'll bill me for less
than turbotax says...?).

So, one question is: Can I just cross out the number in the
"amount you want refunded to you" and write in a new number?
There's also something else I want to "edit" in the
printed return (the name of a Trust that gave me some
income) without printing out the whole thing again...Does
the IRS mind my using a pen to cross out something and
re-write a name?

I'm also wondering which of the forms that turbo printed out
NEED to go to NJ (state). For the State return, other than
the first 3 pages of it (which I know have to go there), it
also printed out a NJ Schedule A and B, and a page that says
"Other Income Statement" , and then a Federal Schedule B
(which it also printed as part of the fed return). I'm not
sure how to interpret the following: On the 2nd and 3rd
page of the return, it says "page 2 and 3 must be enclosed
with page 1 of your NJ return". Maybe that's supposed to
mean that's ALL that has to be sent. ??, but it's an
ambiguous way of saying so.
