$182 billion. Hmm. If not refunded, those dollars would
eliminate a very large portion of the budget deficit. (<g> ?)

I would not be surprised if that thought has not crossed the
imaginative(?) mind of someone at Treasury -- or higher.

And it could prove to be beneficial to the tax preparation
profession. Once stung, many taxpayers would seek aid in
their W-4 and quarterly installment payment calculations.

(Please don't take this post seriously and respond regarding
how ridiculous it is. I am fully aware of that. However,
one never knows...)

Close enough for the press.

It's amazing though, that amount of money not being in
the economy, or the economic impact of $182,240,000,000
in consumer purchasing power.

We'll see if it goes to buy something, or pay down debt.

Default E-File and Refund Stats

Per CNN Headline news, April 29:

50% of taxpayers e-filed. Up 10% from last year.

There have been 85 million refunds, averaging $2144
and totalling $182 billion!

(The figures are theirs, not mine. The exclamation point is mine.)
