slight correction: "...to file two returns each for 8
clients." I'm not THAT slow!

As I'm sure you know, the IRS does have the free EFTPS
system for paying taxes, and, as I mentioned in another
thread, they have a free system called 941TeleFile for
filing Form 941, but that system is disappearing after 2nd
quarter of 2005. (I'm sure you know this also, so this is
just another opportunity for me to complain about the
disappearance of 941TeleFile.)

The real problem with 941 software is..... you have to pay
for it!

Why can't IRS imitate the great state of Alabama, which has
software in place for business to file sales and withholding
taxes online with bank debits for FREE!???

Yesterday morning I filed sales tax returns with state and
with the independent agency which administers local sales
taxes. Took me 50 minutes to file two returns for 8
clients.

I haven't used 941 software for some time and can't remember
the product we used, but it worked fairly well. Whenever
I'm looking for software I look in CPA Software News
(cpasoftwarenews.com) which apparently has changed names to
CPA Technology Advisor.

Can't answer about state support, and I'm sure the pros will
have better answers, BUT tax prep software often only has
the forms for the year just closed while business accounting
software, such as QuickBooks or Medlin Accounting provides
current year tax forms, such as Form 941. (I'm sure there
are many more.)

Default Tax Software for CURRENT Quarterly Corporate Filing?

What am I missing here? All the major players seem to offer
software for S-Corps and such, but it's only as current as
last calendar tax year? For example, Turbo Tax for Business
claims it's capable of doing quaterly 941 vouchers, but what
good does that do me for Q1 2005 when their 2005 software
doesn't come out until next year?

Can anyone reccomend some good software with good state
support (MI specifically?).

Thanks,
