When you posted this question in the TurboTax Support Forum> dynamic update when changing the capital > gains/losses data? It was doing it for a number of > entries and then it stopped and the tax due never > changes now no matter how I change the data. you added "It changes when income is changed but not when capital gains are changed." The dynamic updating is always on. Do you have a net capital loss (Schedule D line 16) of more than $3,000 when all your capital gains and losses are combined? If so, you can't take the entire loss this year. The amount over $3,000 has to be carried over to future years. So if the additional capital transactions that you are entering are not reducing your total net loss below $3,000, then this year's tax is not going to change. That could be why it looks like TurboTax is not updating. The limit is $1,500 if you are married filing separately. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

| Can someone tell me how to get turbotax to dynamic update when changing the capital gains/losses data? It was doing it for a number of entries and then it stopped and the tax due never changes now no matter how I change the data. Thanks for your help.
