Ask your local EA or CPA society or state bar for a
referral.

Take a look at www.naea.org

Here you'll find a directory of Enrolled Agents (EA's) and
you can then find one, or two, or three or more in your
area. When you telephone one, be sure to ask at the outset
if he does "rep work". And if not, can he recommend another
EA who does.

Good Luck!

I suggest a visit to www.naea.org, where you'll find a
database of members. Then make some phone calls and ask
about their background and experience.

Default Clearing up a tax bill/lien... Offer in Compromise?

Been reading this group for several weeks and decided to
post what I think is a relevant question.

I have a Federal Tax Lien, they were about to Levy me but I
was unemployed long enough they levied my old employer. My
tax bill is small compared to most... it's 10k as of March
29, 2005. I make around 35K, own no property but my 2002
Ford Focus (value $5000) and a personal computer. I live
with a sick parent (terminal cancer) and pay for both of our
bills as I can. I probably qualify for an OIC but just to
stop collections I did enter into an agreement to pay
$84/month while I do the OIC.

I want to hire someone but not use those damn Internet OIC
scam shops. I need a reputable EA, CPA or Attorney I guess.
I have scoured my friends and relative for anyone that has
this issue but they are not much help. I don't want to go
the Yellow Pages either. What is the right way about going
to find someone? I believe I should have a simple case as my
assets can be summed up on a paper napkin. Any Advice would
be appreciatted.

Regards,

Brian
