Old adage says: 'Don't sweat the small stuff".
YOu dont' say who's schedule c business it is, nor who
"they" happen to be, but I"m guessing husband and wife. (?)

Maximum deduction IS the sec 179, so if the primary
individual bought it, don't worry about % usage and allocate
to the schedule c.

As for "requiring" a client to keep a log book for usage... !

Default Proper Treatment - Laptop used in 2 businesses?

Laptop purchased for 3k in 9/17/04 for a Sch C business (A),
however find out also is used in their S-Corp business (B).

Say used 25% in A and 75% in B

Q1: How do get the maximum deduction?

Take depreciation on A for 25% of cost since unable to take
Sec179 and show 75% Laptop contributed to B so you can take
75% using Sec179?

Q2: For support, have them maintain a log book for time usage?

Anyone had this situation?

Thanks for your time.
