There's too much information missing to provide you a
definitive answer. It seems to me based on what you provided
that she only moved once. Her work in states 2 and 3 appear
to be temporary assignments until she physically relocated
from state 1 to state 4 and changed her residence. The move
from State 1 to state 4 appears to be a qualified move
assuming she meets the time and distance test. Any
unreimbursed necessary and ordinary expenses she incurred
for her temporary stays in States 2 and 3 are tax deductible
as job expense if she is an employee. If self-employed it
would go on the Schedule C.

Default Moving Expenses - Multiple Moves

A client worked in four states last year. She has a
residence in the first state, but moved and lived in the
other states for a few months. She expects to work 39 weeks
in the state of her current residence. Each move was several
hundred miles.

Can she deduct the expenses (mileage and hotels) for all
three moves?
