| << IRS Form 843. Reference is on page 45 of Pub 519 > naturally I found what I wanted in the pub about 2 days before the post appeared here. Tis the nature of the moderated NG I fear, but thanks for the confirm. Quite a few hoops with more than just 843 being required. May explain to the clients that my cost to them may far outweigh the refunds so they may want to take a crack at the 843 themselves. That and they want me to look into it on March 30, like as if I gots no other work to do this time of year, LOL Dave << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

| I have a few NR aliens who have had Social security/medicare taxes withheld by some (not all in all cases) employers during the year 2004, some also into 2005. They are all here under F-1 Sudent visa's, mostly from India, but also many from Nepal and Bangladesh. As they are exempt from SSA taxes, how do we go about applying for a refund of the taxes already witheld in 2004 - looking for a form # as can't seem to find it on the IRS website. I have told them to notify their employers that they are exempt - and most employers are not withholding the tax, but some still have, and have done so up until notified this year to cease the w/h. TIA Dave << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
