Actually, if the issue were such that you would decline to> there are willing to prepare a state return ONLY, and do so > at a reasonable cost? do the return, I as a client would take my chances on having you look up the necessary information and do it anyway over choosing a randomly chosen part-time tax employee at a chain store office. Even if they *are* in the state in question. Just a thought. Block, Hewitt, Liberty, et al... > gotcha, so I really shouldn't answered as I'm not with a "chain", LOL Speaking of Liberty, and no offense meant to anyone on list who works with or for them. We have a recently opened Liberty Tax Service office near to our home. When we drive by we always get a laugh out of the poor schmucks that work there having to don either the Uncle Sam or Statue of Liberty costumes and stand on the street corner waving signs advertising the office being there and now open. It makes it a tad more laughable that when we go by the office storefront, there's no one in there manning the desks or having work done... either way, yes our firm will do an incomplete engagement, but will so notate on our engagement letter. chain, what do you mean?- quote - > out there are willing to prepare a state return ONLY, and
at our firm we will prepare a state return based on a> do so at a reasonable cost? client's self prepared or other paid prepared federal return, as well as preparing partial returns, i.e. doing a schedule D or E only. BUT, we also have it stipulated in the engagement letter (note to others on the NG you DO have an engaement letter for each return you prepare, right?) specifiying that we will only vouch for or defend from audit the portion(s) of the return we prepared and not the return in toto.. If you're specifically asking if I'll do one for you that you send me, NO, I've got enough work already. If you ain't in to see us by 4-1 this year you're getting extended!
