I work for the state government as well, so my W2 looks like> In Box 14 - it has an entry " RET TS $7,580" > Box 4 (SS witholding) is empty, so I'm guessing Box 14 is > retirement. > How do I account for this on a 1040 - ?? - if at all - > I've looked around, but can't find what > to do with this Teacher Retirement entry in Box 14 your wife's. Unless you qualify for the Retirement Savers Credit(and then only if the contributions are "voluntary"), there really isn't anything you do with that figure on your 1040. It basically replaces SS withholding albeit at a higher rate. Depending on what state you live in, it may or may not effect your state return. | My wife went back to teaching, and received her W2. In Box 14 - it has an entry " RET TS $7,580" Box 4 (SS witholding) is empty, so I'm guessing Box 14 is retirement. How do I account for this on a 1040 - ?? - if at all - I've looked around, but can't find what to do with this Teacher Retirement entry in Box 14 tnx - Phil << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
