| My son is a college freshman, and has received a full tuition scholarship. I realize the value of this must be reported as income, but should there not be a corresponding deduction so that the net income effect (and therefore tax liability) goes to zero? The scholarship is well above the $4000 deduction for educational expenses that is often mentioned here. I am using "Tax Cut" software and cannot find the right places to enter the tuition expenses. Thanks. - Earl << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
