Dick, this has nothing to do with deductibility of
"pre-professional" expenditures, rather relates to what
subject specifies, the LLC (life time learning credit to
distinguish said abbrev. from another kind of LLC)

Yes, DAve, he's serious, in the context of subject above.

Since it is not pre-secondary, it would be post-secondary.

Yes, they are degree-granting programs, as long as they are
qualified institutions of higher education, i.e. not some
internet fly-by-night operation.

Yes.

And they do not qualify for the Hope credit, in case you
were thinking about the Hope.

Yes, as long as the school is an eligible educational
institution.

I'm going to tell you the correct answer to at least 90% of
legitimate tax questions. The answer is "It Depends"!

Medical School, Law School, and Ph.D. tuition, fees, and
books are almost never deductible. BUT a CPA working on
a Ph.D. can write off a hell of a lot of that education as
CPE expenses. A University Professor in a Business School
can effectively write off Law School if the Law School is
part of the University. Now Medical School is a real trick.
A Law School Professor could probably do it, but I do not
see where he/she would find the time or why the Med School
would give them a space.

Default Lifetime learning credit

Do law school and med schools as well as doctorate programs
qualify as post-secondary?

Thanks, Craig
