What box did this appear in on the W-2? Isn't it improper
for it to be double-counted like that between the 1099-B and
W-2?

Credit for what? What exactly are you trying to do?

Show the sale on Schedule D using the amount shown on the
W-2 (plus any cash paid to obtain the stock) as the cost.
Typically you will have a small capital loss (transaction
fees); most of the income shows up on the W-2. You only get
taxed on it once.

Did the TP cash out stock or stock options? Do the 1099-B
and W-2 show the same net income? When I exercise stock
options, I get a W-2 showing the income based on the price
of the stock sold vs. the option price. I also get a 1099-B
that records the same-day "cashless" transaction and shows a
net short term capital loss that is equal to the broker
fees. There is no double taxation here even though I
received both forms.

Default peoplesoft stock

Tp was terminated after merger and cashed out his stock.
recv,d 1099B for stock sale and it was also put on W-2 as
wages. Any way to get credit for this on 1040?

Thank for any advice?

Ray
