Well, yes and no. Yes, in that the clients we have had the> employee names and ssn? issue with have had a supplemental wage listing attached but no, in that we fully expect to get back some of the other forms that were printed from the DOL website, as *they* don't match what the DOL now apparently requires the format to be. Stay tuned. I don't know which form we had at work but I'm sure we had the supplemental wage listing attached, so we expect to get that one back. I had to use a downloaded form for our business and even though it was only one employee, since it is not the new format I expect to get that one back, too. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

Actually, Paul, the form lists it this way: SSN, last name,> order: SSN, Last Name, First Name, Middle Initial, Gross > Wages. first initial and gross wages. Our software lists the name as we have it in the system (which would be the way SSA wants them listed--as they appear on the employee's card). But, apparently the DOL is getting to be hard-core about it. We have gotten two DOL-4s back so far. They both had the attached wage listing but we really do expect to get more of them back, as the forms available online don't match the ones they now seem to require. The old forms are the ones online. Since many of our clients don't send their DOL4s to us, we have to use the ones we can get from the DOL website. We are not amused. <G << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

I reckon you're speaking of page two where we list employee names and ssn? I've always used a payroll program I wrote back about 1979 (back when there was no software for personal computers), and it generates a quarterly list of employees alphabetically with ssn and quarterly wages on plain paper of course. Any schedules you might attach would have to be in a similar format. My software lists the employees by SSN (000-00-0000 first, 999-99-9999 last). I don't know if the DOL is hard core about that though, or if it's just the programmers choice. -- Paul A. | One of our clients received their DOL-4 return back from the Georgia DOL. According to the DOL the format for reporting employees names and wages has been changed. It has been changed to a non-standard format (one that does not match the reporting requirements for IRS/SSA purposes). I'd be interested in hearing from other Georgia employers or accounting (or payroll prep) firms who report for their clients. I'd especially be interested in hearing from any who recall getting a notice from the DOL. I'm involved in reporting wages both as an employer and as a reporting agency for others and do not recall getting a notice. Neither does my employer. Harlan, I seem to recall you saying that you have Georgia clients. Do you recall getting a notice or them getting a notice that they sent to you? << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
