Do you have a link to the article? If that's what they
really said then they're definitely smoking something funny.

Nothing on the 2003 form (haven't checked 2004 form yet)
about such a requirement. Last year one of my clients hadn't
filed 2000, 01, 02 or 03, but we dutifully filled out and
sent in a 4868, just like we'd done every April 15th. He
did however get a letter on 2001 return, asking what to do
with the umpteen thousand $ he had sent in with that 4868.
For the record though, the 2000,01 and 02 has since been
filed. Maybe this year we can get caught up with the 2003
and 04.

Default Extension till August??

I just read in the latest issue of Money magazine that if
you filed your 2003 taxes, you have until Aug to file your
2004 taxes. I am sorry, but I do not understand what one has
to do with the other. Of course if you file an extension you
have until August, but they seem to imply that as long as
you are current with last year, no extension is necessary.
Did I miss a law change or are they smoking something over
there?
