It doesn't handle some states correctly and if you are in AMT, it frequently calculates the wrong tax liability. You are probably better off using a 2004 tax prep program to estimate your 2005 liability (unless there is a wholesale change in the tax law) than spending ~$800 on BNA. Actually, if you are willing to spend $800 on software, you are better off using a tax pro who will have access to other programs and keeps up with tax law changes. It's not just the money. You have a business to run. Most business owners want more time to spend on their business and less administrative duties. Gary -- E-mail to the above address is rarely read. | I have a home office LLC business and have many variables that I can control to my tax advantage. I do a 1040 schedule C for my business income. Could someone in the know point me to any really good professional level Tax scenario planning/optimizing software that will allow me to input my tax scenario variables and make accurate tax projections of resulting taxes so I can run many scenarios to find the optimal one. I am looking to spend under $3K and want professional CPA quality software that an accounting firm would actually use. A kind lad on alt.accounting as pointed me to "BNA Income Tax Planner Software", but looking for more options to choose from. It would be nice if I could also find a professional level financial planning software that can help me determine what are the best ways to minimize my taxes and shelter my assets (esp. long term) given my particular situation and "variables". I am not looking to do any Enron stuff, though, but just interest in any tax/financial strategies that are just up to the "gray areas". Thanks a lot in advance, Isaac T << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
