You can exclude from tax up to $5250 of employer assistance
annually. Any amount paid in excess of $5250 by your
employer that would have been taxable should have already
been reflected in Box 1 of your W-2 as taxable wages.

If the payment from the company is taxable income to you it
is included in your W-2. If it is taxable to you, you can
use the tuition payments as the basis for the various
education benefits described in Publication 970.

Default 1098-T

Hi all,

My company paid for my tuition in 2004 and I received a
1098-T from the university. I know I can't take it as an
education deduction but my question is, since my company
paid for the tuition do I have to claim the amount on the
1098-T as income?

I'm in Pennsylvania and this is for Graduate School.
Thanks for you help.

MM
