| New Jersey also has a state EITC, which is 20% of the federal EITC amount. However, the state EITC is restricted to workers claiming a child for the federal EITC who earn less than $20,000. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

| I guess my original question was unclear. I'm wondering if the New York Earned Income Credit is only available to NY residents, or if as a non-resident I still qualify. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for any info on this. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

| I live in NJ and work part-time in NYC. I know I have to file a NY tax return in addition to the federal return. My question is: Am I eligible for the EIC? Is the EIC only applicable to NY residents?
