Ford is considered a Private source pension for Michigan
purposes. There are other requirements for the exclusion
of pension income in Michigan. Age is one. You must be of
"normal retirement age" iow a 32 year old can not exclude
pension income.

Thanks Alan, I guess I'm a little fuzzy between a "public"
source and a "private" source.

MI starts with federal AGI and allows you to subtract your
Ford pension up to a maximum of $38,550 if single; twice
that if filing a joint return. See page 15 of the MI-40 tax
instruction booklet.

Default Ford pention

Do I need to claim my Ford pension on my Michigan tax
return, or is it exempt.
