this is a personal loss, and therefore not deductible.

Default Can I deduct this?

My wife and I were going to sell our house to a "custom
builder" last year. We signed a contract and were going to
buy a house elsewhere. Due to personal problems, we had to
break the contract with the builder.

In order to break the contract, we had to pay about nine
thousand dollars to him.

Can I deduct any of this money on my tax return as a loss?

Thanks for your help.
Frank
