Your W-2 will show the total amount of state and local taxes> one of my employers took out of my pay check local taxes for > New York City. When you file your state income tax form, you calculate your state and city taxes, and sum them. The total withheld is applied to that amount, and the excess (if any) refunded. So the credit will be automatic. | I live outside of NYC & its 5 boroughs. During last year, one of my employers took out of my pay check local taxes for New York City. Since I'm not living in NYC or its boroughs, how can I apply for a tax credit for the amount my employer withheld? Thanks in advance... anthony mrbal2003[at]yahoo.com << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
