All you can do is explain, by sending a copy of the Sch C
with an explanatory letter. If the gross on Sch C ties to
the 1099, you go it. If not, then I'd add an analysis of
the Sch C gross to list the 1099, and/or other payers and
categories of income items in there. That's more convincing
than merely, "My Dad assures me that 1099 is in there." If
too much work, then just include a letter to IRS from Dad.

I lost my program and am confused about the players. Are
"father" and "taxpayer" the same person? If they are, I
can't understand why a CP-2000 would have been issued. If
they aren't, you plan should be sufficient.

Default 1099 wrong ID #

Received IRS CP2000 for the year 2000 with a 1099 in
taxpayer's ss#. It should have been issued in father's
business ID#. It was properly included on father's Schedule
C ( he didn't notice ID# wrong) Do we need to do any more
than explain to the IRS and show proof it was on father's
return? The company who issued it no longer exists. IF
necessary we could 1099 the father's business. Thanks
