They are deductible when computing NY State income taxes and
perhaps in other states.

Unless I missed something (except for certain state
programs) 529 plans are not deductible

I know that 529 savings plan contributions are tax
deductible, but what documentation do I need to show my
contributions? Would this come from the institution I have
them set up with?
