Default Re: Problem with Bankrupt employer from last year

Has your brother gone to the local IRS location and
requested a transcript? If they have a record of any w2
information in their system on him, he can obatin a copy or
he can call (800) 829-1040 and request the same information.
The transcript, if they have the w2 information will give
the information he needs to file his return. I hope this
help. Post back and let us know what he found out.

Default Problem with Bankrupt employer from last year

I usually do my own taxes, and those of my immediate family.
But this last year we ran into a problem with my brother.

In May of 2003 he was layed off by his employer, and they
went bankrupt in June. The problem is they never sent him a
W-2 during tax time in 2004, and he doesn't have his final
paystub. He contacted the IRS and he filed a 4-month
extention. Well, it is now January 2005, and he still
didn't do anything about his situation from last year. What
can we do since he went past his deadline and done nothing?
How can we go about finding out what the employer submitted
on his behalf, if anything for 2003?

The employer is no where to be found, so getting any
information from them is useless. Any help about this
situation would be very much appreciated. Thank you in
advance!
