One of the subjects for discussion listed in the m.t.m
charter is "Problems encountered by tax practitioners that
may be of interest to the tax community." That could
certainly include problems with software. The OP is a
practitioner (and a regular contributor to this group).

The charter also says that discussions are not limited to
the subjects specifically listed in the charter. There are
many participants in this group who do not mind an
occasional question about software, and a number of them are
willing to answer such questions, even for
non-practitioners. The moderator is apparently among those
who do not mind software questions, since he allows them to
be posted.

Note: Whether your inference is correct or incorrect, one
of the absolutes here is that precedent is meaningless.

I have no recollection of the original post, who was the
OP, or who was the respondent. Sometimes I see a
submission as a tax function of the software and I post
it. Sometimes I see it as a technical function and I
delete it, but then again sometimes I post it anyway.

Here is their reply, and it did the trick!

I am assuming that you are a user of our desktop version of
our software. To enter the S/E Health insurance payments you
first have to enter the amount called for on the schedule C.
This is located just under 32c. Enter the amount that is
supposed to go in line one of the S/E Health Insurance
deduction worksheet. Then open up the supporting worksheet
and line 1 will already be filled in by the entry in the
schedule C. If I have not been clear enough, feel free to
contact us again by replying to this email.

Thank you for using TaxACT. Please let us know if you have
any further questions.

You don't enter the amount on the worksheet. Rather, you
enter it at the bottom of page 1 of the Schedule C or K-1 to
which it relates.

In the future, may I suggest that you post TaxACT related
questions to the following group (rather than m.t.m):

Default Tax Act problem

I have written Tax Act for a solution. My problem is that I
cannot enter the dollar amount for self-employed health
insurance premium deductions on the worksheet. I don't want
to override.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I will let you know what solution Tax Act gives me.
