Your employer should have lumped the value of the
just-vested stock in Box 1 of your W-2. Likewise, the
withheld taxes should be lumped into the taxes withheld
boxes on your W-2.

Your basis in the stock is the income realized on vesting.

Default Reporting vested Restricted Stock Units

I vested in some restricted stock units this year. Taxes
were withheld already by withholding some of the units. The
taxes paid were listed as Federal, FICA 1, and FICA 2. I'm
having a hard time trying to figure out where to put this on
my taxes. I also sold these shares so need to report that
as well. So, my questions are: Where do I report the
taxable gain and taxes already paid for vesting in these
restricted stock units and secondly, do I report the sale on
a normal Schedule D? I guess a third question: When I do
report the sale, do I have a cost basis of the vested market
value since I already paid taxes on that amount? Thanks!

Jim
