I have a case, where the elderly TP did that, $45,000 ES
deposit, she died mid year, the CPA & ESTATE Atty closed the
books on her accounts & estate, W/O ever confirming that the
final return had posted and it was supposed to have
generated a FINAL refund (the majority of the deposit).

Problem is that her original Executor (family member) also
died before the final return was filed, the estate was
closed, and all the family apparently were not aware of the
unsettled business!

Now we have to get the CPA who prepared the return to the
attorney to reopen probate, re-appoint an administrator,
sign the final return, process, and issue the final REFUND.

Well now, your OP makes a lot of sense, sure does.

Two of my elderly clients want things so tidy that they only
wish to make one estimated tax payment to each, in April so
they won't have to remember all those other three dates rest
of year. I just smile, but they want to prepay a year ahead.
Maybe I should mention that they might die before even the
second one is officially due?

Great thinking. Had a little old client once who forgot her
January ES and sent it in just before her March appointment
with me and didn't tell me. A year later she was all
indignant because "she'd paid it". IRS does it's best but
mindreading is not one of their talents. Nan, EA in LA

We prepare tax returns for many seniors and they like to
have everything they need in a nice tidy package. For the
ones that will be paying estimated taxes we include
preprinted coupons and addressed envelopes. I guess my
consusion is that they have the Spanish version finished and
available but not the English... seems like maybe an
oversight more than the form actually not being ready.

Well no wonder! It's just January and first estimate's not
due till April 15th.

Interesting idea there, though. Since I decided to brush up
on my Spanish this year (not a New Year's resolution, just
an idle hobby) maybe I'll start using the 1040ES en espanol
for myself. (What's next? 1040ES in Arabic?)

To minimize confusion, the coupons for the current year are
not published until a month or two after the deadline for
the Prior Years final deposit, Due 1/15/2005.

Your first estimated payment is not due until April 15,
2005, so what's the hurry? I'm sure the form will be
available by then.

You don't need the vouchers until April 15. I'm sure it
will be available by then.

Default 2005 1040-ES

Has anyone found this on the IRS website? They have the 2004
form, they have a 2005 Spanish form, and a 2005 English E
verison (which does not include coupons), but no 2005
English version with coupons.

Thanks
