Yes. If you are an employee, deduct it using Formn 2106 as> consultant. I purchased a laptop last year, which is solely > used for this purpose. Can take a deduction for this? an employee business expense. If you are an independent contractor, deduct it on Form 4562 attached to Schedule C. In both cases, if you use the laptop partially for personal purposes, you need to reduce the deduction accordingly. -- Thomas E Healy, CPA, PC 1650 38th St., Ste 202W Boulder, CO 80301 Please send email to: tom[at]tomhealycpa.com, since I block all email at my newsgroup address. phone (303) 443-1804 fax (720) 489-3772 << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

If used SOLELY for business, yes. It is a LISTED ASSET so be> consultant. I purchased a laptop last year, which is solely > used for this purpose. Can take a deduction for this? sure and check on the limits (under 280f I think) for deducibility and understand it is a 2106 employee business expense that flows to Sch A which means you need to already have enough other deductions to exceed the standard deduction for it to do you any good.
