No deduction. Although she may have established a new
residence, she didn't move her "tax home" as she was in GA
before this alleged "temporary assignment."

Is she an employee of the school (for example, does she
recived benefits?) or a contractor. Just becasue she has a
teaching contract don't mean she is a contractor.

I'm really tempted to say something like.... Let that friend
prepare AND sign y'all's tax return.

Nope, her tax home is where she earns her bread, Georgia in
this case, hence no out of town expenses.

I 'spec Paul will chime in and confirm.

ChEAr$,
Harlan Lunsford, EA n LA; that's next door to GA btw.

Default Deductions for contract work?

In June of 2004, my wife and I move to AZ from GA. She
established residence in AZ (drivers license and registered
to vote). She did return to GA to teach on last school
year. As a teacher, she is teaching under a one school year
contract.

A friend suggested that as an AZ resident working a contract
position in GA, she/we would be able to deduct her living
expenses in GA (Rent / Food / Transportation). Any truth to
this?
