You must keep the IRAs separate from the 401K. This means> to take the money from both an IRA and the 401k or can I > just total the IRA's and the 401k, and take the minimum > distribution (based on the total) from one IRA or the 401k? that at a minimum you would have to have at least two distributions (one from the pension and one from an IRA account). -- Alan http://taxtopics.net << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

You must take your minimum distribution from each. One> to take the money from both an IRA and the 401k or can I > just total the IRA's and the 401k, and take the minimum > distribution (based on the total) from one IRA or the 401k? cannot cover the other. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

| I am 70.5 in 2005 and have both IRA(s) and a 401k. Do I have to take the money from both an IRA and the 401k or can I just total the IRA's and the 401k, and take the minimum distribution (based on the total) from one IRA or the 401k? << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
