I saw nothing in that notice, or in Notice 2004-2, that treats the catch-up amounts any differently than regular contributions. Also, since a surviving spouse can treat the deceased spouse's HSA as his/her own, wouldn't that make the point moot in the long run? << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

After all, isn't that the secret of success in accounting? (Allocate, pro rate and re create.) | Hi, everyone, I haven't found the answer to this question: When both spouses are over age 50 and eligible for the additional catch-up contribution to an HSA, does the couple have to set up two HSAs, so that the spouse can put her own catch-up contribution into hers, or, like regular contributions, can they be divided as the spouses mutually agree? -- Thomas E Healy, CPA, PC 1650 38th St., Ste 202W Boulder, CO 80301 Please send email to: tom[at]tomhealycpa.com, since I block all email at my newsgroup address. phone (303) 443-1804 fax (720) 489-3772 << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
