Google News returns one hit, for a Dec. 22 Miami Herald article.

Harlon - it was a joke. Believe me, I know very well why
the government is changing the rules. I actually *did*
donate a car a few years back, and the value they gave me
(without qualifications) was WAY out of line than FMV. I am
sure a lot of less than honest people use that value or
straight "blue book". At least I did try to check existing
private sales and took into account flaws, milage, etc. when
I came up with my figure - a rather small percentage of what
was told to me that I could use.

We ARE talking about "explosive" being the word for which
the middle letter stands for, aren't we?

The "IED" is a recent term due to the Iraqui war. Back
then we called them bicycle or cyclo bombs.

Loud booms still make me nervous, even to this day.

OH NO!!!! WAIT! Don't do that: sell them; you'll probably
come out better. Unless of course you can't find a willing
buyer this late date and won't be itemizing deductions next
year AND probably won't find a buyer next year.

Well, doing a Google with "$472,790" as the search term did
get me there, I admit I didn't do the search myself. But
the citation originally would have been helpful. In fact,
http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/fls/Freixas.html is the official
D.O.J. release, better than the semi-large paper!

So was I - actually several. This is the first time I heard
that term, though.

A quick check of google shows that it's the Miami Herald
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald...0471919.htm?1c
also known as http://snipurl.com/bnbi

LOL! I Love the way you think . After all, who among the
denizens of the board might be expected to know what an IED
actually is?

I do. Was near one, onceuponatime.

Yes, after all, we can't expect to find everything in the
Birmingham OR Huntsville papers, right? (grin

Since I found the cite in 15 seconds on Google news, I disagree.

Probably the South Florida Sun Sentinal
http://www.southflorida.com/movies/s...e-tv-headlines

Take your pick of similar :

State of New Jersey http://www.state.nj.us/lps/ge/exclusion/anastasio_a.htm
Court of American Samoa http://www.asbar.org/Cases/25ASR2d/25ASR2d21.htm
State of Michigan Court of Appeals
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/data2/.../pritchard.doc
Supreme Court of Oklahoma
http://www.oscn.net/applications/osc...p?citeID=20088
The Associated Press http://www.thestate.com/mld/state/sports/5379297.htm
Las Vegas Review Journal
http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_ho...s/5375590.html

At least a search of the IRS web site returns no hits!

Yet without the citation complete, your post is (IMNSHO)
worthless. If the "semi-major" paper printed it (ie: you're
not trolling or just making this up), please cite the
source.

Hmm... interesting point here, Bill.

Just why can't you name the individual, since the US
attorney did. Such indictments are public record.

Are you implying the newspaper down in Florida (?) did
something wrong?

I did a Google search for "income tax invasion." It found
329 occurrences. I would have had trouble believing it if I
did not read newspapers.

And I thought a "tax invasion" described rich urbanites
moving into a rural area and boosting the property taxes.
But I have noticed that this newsgroup gets regular posts
inquiring about IEDs -- Improvised Evasive Devices. Perhaps
we should really get tough in Iraq and send in the IRS.

The first paragraph of an article in a semi-major newspaper, which will
remain nameless in order to spare it further embarrassment.
