I remember that. I should have saved those faxes he sent
me. The two pages we now have is an abbreviated form, trust
me.

He is now a branch chief in forms and taught at all 6 tax
forums this year. Phurt is the proud papa of 3 lovely little
girls and his wife still works in the forms area.

This will sound like a troll, but I seriously suspect that
schedule D form was designed to not be understood. I think
it could have still been done cookbook style, while making
it clearer as to what is going on.

All of this reminds me (Helen!) of Phurt (Curt actually) at
IRS forms department who had the major headache back
about..... oh... 1994? re designing the schedule d in time.
But he did. And maybe he's still at it. Is he?

Wouldn't it make a lot more sense if they just allowed a
deduction for LTCG's as they did in the past. (40,50, or 60%
at various times).

I wonder if anyone understands the present schedule D
calculation.

Default 2004 Schedule D error...my mistake, sorry!

In my previous message, I didn't read line 16 correctly
(i.e. at all). If one does what line 16 says, it all works
out fine. Sorry for the stupidity!
