Assuming you can't find the 4 liter bottles nearby, a
standard 1 gallon cider or milk bottle is equal to 3.785
liters. Might be close enough for your purposes.

Others have sent me similar responses. Four liters is 7.2
ounces greater than a gallon. There is generally an 8 oz
loss due to sediment when you transfer from the primary to
the secondary fermenter. The idea is to transfer from a
larger primary fermenter to a smaller secondery. Right
now, I go from a 3 gallon to a one gallon which is very
inefficient.

While I am wheelchair bound, Susan and I made an agreement
that the only alcohol I drink is what I brew. I am such a
tough negotiator.

You can homebrew beer in 4 weeks, but it's a very expensive
set-up cost and for a quality brew, it does not look like a
a substantial savings. So I have started brewing Mead. The
problem is that Mead takes 9 to 15 months to ferment out and
age. However I have several recipes that will be palatable
in 6 to 13 weeks. They all call for 4 liter bottles which
amazingly are very difficult to find.

So if you have, or will soon have, some empty 4 Liter wine
bottles, I would appreciate it if you would send them to me.
If you live near Baltimore, I can have my older son pick
