BAck and forth, back and forth, finally they wanted me to prove I was NOT covered by Medicare! So, I had to prove a negative. sounds like IRS sometimes. But at least their drugs are cheap. Get well. Next to physical pain, an IRS audit or tax problems seem like a lark. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

In the past Blue Cross has been fined big time for routinely declining coverage just to see if the claimant complains, eventually to give in when they can't come up with good enough reasons not to. Stu ================================================== ========== Moderator: The problem is common in decentralized organizations. The State of Maryland is a "National" account. That means that because of its size, it is managed by the National office staff. They think Balloon Kyphoplasy is an experimental surgery. Smaller accounts are managed by local staff who are more current on surgical practices and they know it is not experimental. So in the near future, the information will flow upstream and the surgery will be done. ================================================== ========== << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

| My apologies for not posting for the last three days. Hectic would be a gross understatement. My surgery for Friday was cancelled due to my insurance company. My doctor may be more upset than I am. I spent the last three days calling people at Blue Cross/Blue Shield and at the State of Maryland Employee Benefits office. So here I sit in a wheelchair that I may wind up owning if this takes much longer. The pain sucks when it comes, but I am getting 100 generic Percaset every 10 to 14 days. It's 1:30 Friday morning. I am crashing, but I will start posting the back log as soon as I get dressed tomorrow.
