| I'd care if it SIMPLIFIED tax preparation. The current situation is that we have around a dozen of these tax-deferred personal responsibility savings accounts available to general public- IRA, Roth, 401/403, MSA, HSA, 529- to name a few. Each requires piecemeal contributions, administration by customer and bank, and entries on a tax forms (whether periodically or withdrawal). I'd prefer a consolidated "universal" account with the same properties. We are adults here and can manage the appropriations. Something like "30-30" accounts, i.e. 30% of income up to $30K, etc. The Republicans want to transfer other government functions to these accounts such as social security, unemployement, medicare, education, and housing inducements. The drawbacks to universality means less business for tax preparers. And the same people who can't save now, won't be able to save with any type of account whether universal or fractured. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
