Wow!!! I sure didn't expect the "apparent" criticism to my
post. I am not directing this to anyone in particular, I
just ask that you go back and look at your post and decide
for yourself if you could have rephrased it in a little less
confrontational manner.

As to the person wanting a cite, I pulled the information
from a BNA newsletter that didn't provide a link. Since I
"thought" this was a fairly noncontroversial post I didn't
see the need to find the exact cite. Since you have already
provided it, I won't duplicate your work.

Please do NOT reply to this post.

Not as simple as one might think!

It would serve the public & professionals reading this group
to known the sources of News Tidbits posted.

The complete story can be had at the following, including a
host of other TIGTA information.

A sample of & a test of what?

The efficiency & skill of the clerks looking?

Was it a test of the their understanding of how documents
can be "Charged Out" to other employees and how to locate &
contact the person in possession of the document?

I am suspect of the TEST that TIGTA conducted, and what is
the point? What solutions did TIGTA recommend to alleviate
the problem?

Drew?

Yeah, what ever happened to her?
Also, what about Donna Rice?

But they only asked for 1500 documents. IF they had asked
for the whole 300 million, you reckon the percentage would
still have been .000075 percent? This was sampling, pure
and simple.

Oh yes. The one who stuffed the documents down her
panties, looking just a little bit pregnant. And some
blamed Lt Col North. for the documents not the assumed
or pretended pregnancy.

Drew is right. 15% failure rate is not an excellent system.
I shudder to think about my not being able to find more
than one request in a year's time. One I could understand;
two I could not.

225 documents out of an annual repository of over 300
million is ..000075 percent (.00000075)!!!!!!!!!

The service center repository holds 3 active years, the FRC
another 3, on the seventh they go to the big shredder in the
sky.

Any one remember Fawn Hall.

I would call it an excellent file & retrieval system,
exception taken by the 225 individuals wishing to get a
copy of their returns.

That would depend on if TIGTA knew the documents even
existed. It seems to be difficult to find a document that
was never filed.

Default TIGTA says IRS lost it

OK, what TIGTA really said was that 15% of 1,500 requests
for documents resulted in IRS saying they couldn't find
them.

Pretty bad results.
