They have assured me that they have identified and "warned" the responsible party. Not sure how much confidence I have in all that, but hopefully this problem will at least diminish a bit. Also, out addresses are likely in the address books of many folkes and their address books get posted. I use filters at my ISP to toss hundreds of messages each day before they ever get to my PC. If I lose a few legit messages in the process, well, the world will still go on. I then further filter with Eudora on my PC. I filter most messages into separate mailboxes and the crap usually ends up in particular malboxes, so I just do a CTRL A on the headers and delete the critters. Indeed, filtering is one of the reasons I still use Eudora. It's way to costly, in terms of my time, to redo the filters in, say, Outlook or ... I started to write a VB program to do the conversion, but it's not high on my list of things to do right now. Don't know why MSFT doesn't come up with such a tool? << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

MTW and I are both members of several forums, but the only place I used the targeted email address was here. Since I have no contact with any posters outside of these forums, they most likely did not get my email address elsewhere. (I am assuming that the to: and From: addresses were harvested from one person's address book.) Moreover, the other poster from whom it appeared to come, (as I well know), in Washington state or thereabouts. There are at least a couple of posters from Jersey. Therefore, it is likely that one of them has become infected by something. /brian << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
