| Yes it is possible. I currently do have a home office space, but it is not used exclusively for business use, although it could be if it proved advantageous. I am not sure what you are getting at however, since my business/work site is really not at home but at the worksites I am contracted to work at. I take care of my taxes, business billing issues, online educational work, sending our business propositions/contracts in the home office. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

| I own a small business, and purchased an automobile which I use almost exclusively for business purposes (travel to educational seminars, trips to distant job sites). I may soon be contracted at a business site about 35 minutes from my home. I know that my commute to and from that business is not considered tax deductible. Every third day however, I am required to be within 15 mins driving distance of the business, and so I will be renting an apt. or hotel room every third day close to the business I will contract with. Will my travel on these days be totally tax-deductible, as well as the hotel/apt. costs, and 50% of my food costs? Additionally, I sometimes work close to my home, and once again, I know that my first trip to and from the local jobsite is not tax-deductible. On occasion however, I am on call, and get called back into work: are these second, or third trips to work tax deductible? << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
