Unless this apartment is used for your trade or business, it
is a personal and nondeductible cost.

Default cost of temporary relocation due to improvements to primary residence

I did a major renovation in my co-op apartment which
required me to relocate for nine months while the work was
being done. Can I add the cost of renting another apartment
and the storage costs for my furniture during this nine
month period as part of the cost basis of the apartment?
