Massachusetts does not.> deduct property taxes paid on out-of-state property. I can't say for certain about NY, but CA and AZ make it> York allows a deduction for Florida real estate taxes. (I assume you mean "property taxes" when you say "real estate taxes". I can't think of any other Federally deductable "real estate tax" at the moment.) << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

Yes they can. | A question on itemized deductions. I can't believe that New York allows a deduction for Florida real estate taxes. But I can't find anything that disallows it. Assume that line 5 of the 2003 Schedule A lists the following Real estate taxes Residence Domicile - New York City tax 6,000.00 Winter - Florida (non-rental) tax 2,000.00 IT-201-ATT line 2 Taxes you paid (from Federal Sched A, line 9) 8,000.00 line 9 reverses State, local, and foreign INCOME taxes and other subtraction adjustments (see page 49) Does New York allow Florida real estate tax deductions, I cannot find where this (or New York real estate tax) would be reversed. I guess the simple question is: Can real estate taxes be deducted (itemized deductions) from New York State taxes. Thanks. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
